"First Tuesday" Series

February 2, 2010, 7 p.m., ASMP/Alaska's "First Tuesday" Slide/Lecture Series presents Time Lapse: Still Images In Motion by Anchorage Daily News photographer Bob Hallinen in the auditorium of the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. The program is open to the public; admission is free.

Deeply rooted in journalistic photography and photo editing since leaving Northern Michigan University in 1972, Bob Hallinen has been a fixture at the Anchorage Daily News since joining the photographic staff in 1985. He is well known for his sensitive and insightful images of Alaska birds and mammals, but his photographs of people best demonstrate his skill as a photojournalist.

Mr. Hallinen's recent exploration of time lapse photography has resulted in a number of video presentations that have appeared online at the Anchorage Daily News site. These short, one subject, video presentations explore the convergence of motion and the still image while stretching the traditional boundaries of journalism. A question and answer period will follow.
