Specializing in Landscape, Scenics, Travel, Nature, Advertising, Stock, Advertising, Panoramics, Historical, Wildlife

Jeff Gnass realized his niche in life after picking up a large format camera in 1978 and pursuing natural history photography. Though completely self-taught, he has been a guest lecturer at universities and colleges, an instructor at field photo workshops, and has written a number of articles describing his photo techniques and natural light photography. Jeff's perceptions of the natural world are deeply rooted in the outdoor experiences of his childhood in Alaska. His endeavors in photography are guided by a personal intensity and determination to interpret and celebrate the majesty of nature.

Gnass operates his stock photo business in Juneau, in the heart of Southeast Alaska. He is able to offer prompt service to clients worldwide with a full-time staff and the assistance of modern technology. His photo library contains over 65,000 large format images, including scenic landmarks and travel destinations, nature and wildlife, historic sites and the earth sciences. Coverage includes all 50 states, as well as Canada, and Patagonia (Chile/Argentina).

Jeff has accumulated thousands of photo credits and is a regular contributor to a wide variety of books, calendars, and all major magazines. His most recent portfolio, Desert Awakenings, with writer John Murray, will be published in summer 1998 by NorthWord

Press. Other coffee table books: NOWHERE IS A PLACE: Travels In Patagonia (1992), published by Sierra Club Books, with a text by Bruce Chatwin and Paul Theroux, which reveals the enigmatic southern region of Chile and Argentina; HAWAII, Magnificent Wilderness and IDAHO, Magnificent Wilderness, both published by Westcliffe Publishers. Other recent photo books on national parks include, Crater Lake: The Continuing Story (1996), California Trail: The Story Behind the Scenery (1996), and Oregon Trail Center: The Story Behind the Scenery (1995).
